What happens when you’re 26 and hear the words “you have melanoma”? Leah Adams never expected a cancer diagnosis in her twenties, especially after years of tanning beds and sun exposure she once believed were harmless.
After her mom noticed a suspicious mole on her chest, just weeks after Leah’s dad was diagnosed with melanoma, Leah scheduled her first skin check. The diagnosis changed everything. What many think of as “just skin cancer” led to an eight-hour surgery, weeks of recovery, and an emotional journey filled with fear, guilt, and shame.
Leah speaks openly about feeling responsible for her cancer, the isolation she experienced, and how online survivor communities and therapy helped her heal. She has learned how to continue running outdoors, something she loves, while protecting her skin and mental health.
Now an advocate, Leah shares her story to raise awareness and support others. Her journey is a powerful reminder that healing takes time, honesty, and connection.
