Do you have skin in the game? No sitting on the sidelines for my patients. I motivate my patients to become active participants in their skincare.
Don’t beat yourself up for what you did years ago– tanning, baby oil, reflectors. What matters is that you are here today. Our skin has a profound impact on so many aspects of our lives. As a dermatologist, it’s a privilege to help people with their skin. There’s nothing more rewarding than witnessing the transformative power of skincare, and how treating someone’s skin can completely change their life.
When you take care of your skin, you take care of you. That’s the foundation for helping you become your best self to live your best life.
Hello, DermTrotters! My love affair with dermatology and passion to talk about skin health inspired me to start the DermTrotter community and Derm-It! Trotter podcast. I want to bring accurate information to you and simplify the complexity of all the skinformation out there. Now for a little background on me.
I originally hail from Xenia, a small town in Ohio, and fun fact–bicycle capital of the Midwest. After completing my bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Dayton, I graduated medical school from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. During my third year of medical school, I met a psoriasis patient whose life was completely transformed with treatment, and I witnessed the power of improving skin health. That experience is why I fell in love with dermatology. To be able to help someone live their best life by treating their skin–What an incredible privilege.
To pursue my dream of becoming a dermatologist, I completed a dermatology residency at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital and served as chief resident. After my residency, I completed a fellowship in cutaneous oncology at Boston University. Currently, I practice with DOCS Dermatology and serve as faculty for the OhioHealth Dermatology Residency Program. I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor at Ohio University and host of the podcast, Derm-It Trotter! Don’t Swear About Skincare.
My clinical interests include skin cancer, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, alopecia, medical education, and advocacy. You might find me giving a community talk on skin cancer, presenting at a conference, or working at the Ohio Statehouse with legislators. I’m a straight shooter, practical yet visionary, professional with a humorous and sometimes sarcastic flare. I love to educate and entertain, and I bring this unique approach to my practice.
Outside of my professional life, I have various interests that keep me balanced and energized. I enjoy bicycling, reading, traveling, and gardening. I also love public speaking, blogging, and helping patients understand the importance of skin health. Above all, my favorite part of the day is coming home to my chaotic yet joyful house and spending time with my family—an amazing husband, three wonderful children, and two mischievous pets, Charlie and Sparkles.
